Taken on June 13 at Hollywood Park just before the Vanity handicap. Zenyatta won that race.

she won a race the day after my birthday, love this mare, and her dance reminds me of what my quarter horse used to do after i cooled him off from a barrel run....

I caught footage of her schooling in the paddock a few days before the Vanity. She was all dappled out and doing the "Zenyatta dance" (someone needs to write a song for that!) even then. I knew she had a great chance!

Magnificent shot. You waited until absolutely the perfect moment to get the head-on perspective, and the position of those legs is just... GUH. Plus the arched neck, and those ears, and it's just awesome. Kinda too bad her hoof and his feet were cut off, but I stop caring about itty bitty details when a moment's this good. :D
